The following is a statement created by the student members of the Florida State Thespian Board and approved by the Board as a whole:
We come to State because we love theatre.
We come to enjoy the entertainment, but it is important for us to remember that
we have come to watch the show and NOT be the show. To make sure that
the attention is solely on the performers, where it should be, we are instating
a new dress code. As always your school dress code applies. If your attire is
not deemed reasonable for a theatre performance you may be asked to leave the
theatre. You will not be readmitted until you change into something more
appropriate.
These are a few guidelines that we ask you follow. This includes but is not
limited to:
BOYS:
Slacks or nice jeans, Button up or Polo
shirt, Belt, Tie (recommended) and closed toe shoes
GIRLS:
Dress, skirt, nice top, slacks, and dress
shoes
NO navel, cleavage and excessive exposure
of skin whether it be legs, backs, shoulders, etc. is allowed
Florida State Thespians does not allow theme or costume nights at the festival.
The dress code during the DAY remains casual as you will want
to dress for success in the workshops and Individual Events.
Be reasonable! Support your art the best
possible way by simply respecting it.
Thank you
