November, 2009

Dear Workshop Leader, Adjudicator, and Friend of Thespians:

The annual Florida State Thespian Festival will again be held in Tampa April 7-10, 2010.  This year many of the workshops and Individual Events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be held in the Tampa Convention Center.

Of special interest to our students has been the wide variety of workshops made available to them as a part of the Festival.  The State Board and I are sending you a special invitation to present a workshop at our Festival this year.  These special invitations are being sent to some former presenters and to persons whose names have been suggested to us because of their reputations and/or previous workshops.  Subject areas requested by our Thespians include workshops on auditioning, musical theatre, voice‑singing, dialects, makeup, set building, painting, set design, stage movement, how to do a cold reading, attitude and rejection‑‑how to cope with not being cast, costume design, playwriting, scene study, and dance, to name a few.  We ask that any workshops you present be participatory or "hands on" in nature. Please complete the enclosed Workshop Registration form and return by JANUARY 11, 2010.  If you wish to be considered as an adjudicator only, you are asked to skip all of the sections on the back of the form regarding workshop details, but complete the attached second page.

If you would like to register, simply click here.  The application can then be printed and mailed; printed and faxed; or automatically e-mailed.

Our students deserve the best we can give them and you fit the bill!  Confirmations will be sent in March.

I look forward to your positive reply.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Higgins
